Our fourth annual cottage experience was a huge success. 8 teenaged boys who have lost parents or siblings in a terrorist attack in Israel spent two weeks hosted by Shirley and Brian Belzberg as well as their cottage community. This initiative has been organized over the years by Ari Greenberg and Emanuel Greenberg. This experience gives the boys a much needed break from the heaviness and sadness of their lives in Israel.
Our second annual golf tournament was an incredible success. 70 golfers played 27 holes of exceptional golf at one of Canada’s most exclusive private clubs, enjoyed outrageous food and drinks, and superlative prizes.
In 2008, One Family Fund brought 20 Israeli kids and two counselors to Camp Timberlane in Haliburton for a month. There, they participated in all the camp activities, formed new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime, and enjoyed the warm, supportive environment of the camp.
One Family Fund participated in a joint program to bring 6 kids to Camp Gesher in Ontario. Our partners were Yaldeinu and the ICEJ, International Christian Embassy of Jerusalem, thanks to the generous support of Donna Hollbrook, Canadian Director ICEJ. The kids had a great time.
Our fourth annual bike ride was a huge success. More than 100 riders turned out to raise funds for Israel’s victims of terror. Orly Vaknin, a victim of terror from Israel came to ride with us. Orly was adopted by the Ehrlich family, and had the opportunity to ride with Tom Ehrlich.
A spirited group of Israeli women joined together for a fun evening. Each woman brought a bag of necessary items for the kids attending our various summer camp experiences in Canada.
We are grateful to the clothing designers/manufacturers Tevrow and Chase for opening their showroom to our community. Proceeds of sales went to help victims of terror in Israel. In addition, numerous duffel bags of new clothes were taken to Israel with the women’s mission to distribute to victims in Israel through Dena’s Boutique, our One Family Fund store.
McGill students who were studying at Hebrew University organized a wonderful event for students at Hebrew U. The proceeds went to One Family Fund in Israel.
What an incredible group of men and women. The Yowees, known as the Yids on Wheels, traveled to Israel with their motorcycles, to participate in the Yom Ha’atzmaut celebrations. We were the lucky recipients of their fundraising efforts, as they funded an incredible celebration day (yom kef) for victims and their families from Sderot and the north. We are so grateful for their continuous support and for their spirit!
20 women from Canada and the US traveled to Israel to connect with the land and the people. Through a diverse range of physical and spiritual experiences in Israel, they were able to provide direct hands-on support to victims of terror and their families.
An interactive culinary experience at Nella Cucina featured hands-on cooking class followed by an enjoyment of the results; wine tasting, and opportunity to purchase fabulous cookware (with a portion of the proceeds going to One Family Fund). Overall a delightful evening that helped to raise both awareness of the needs of terror victims in Israel and significant funds to help them.
