OneFamily Bar & Bat Mitzvah Twinning Program

Celebrate your child’s milestone by uplifting a child affected by terror in Israel.

Every Bar or Bat Mitzvah marks a coming of age — a moment of joy, identity, and belonging. OneFamily will help you create the perfect Bar/ Bat Mitzvah project.

At OneFamily, we invite you to deepen that meaning by “twinning” your child with a young Israeli survivor of terror or war — a child who has lost a parent or a sibling, and is growing up in the darkness of unimaginable trauma.
Many of these children’s families simply cannot afford to celebrate. But with your help, they can feel seen, honored, and joyful on their special day.

What Is Twinning?

Twinning allows your family to provide a Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebration for an Israeli child who otherwise wouldn’t have one — while also creating a personal, compassionate connection across borders.
You can:

  • Surprise your child with a twinning certificate and a story about their Israeli twin

  • Or include your child in the mitzvah by fundraising for their twin’s celebration.  We’ll help your child create a really fun fundraiser so that they enjoy the process.
We’ll also create a personalized fundraising page and QR code for you.

  • This can be as private or public, as simple or interactive, as your family wishes.

What Your Gift Provides

Your donation of $2,000 helps fund:

  • A modest celebration: food, cake, venue, and photos

  • New clothing and accessories for the child

  • A shared moment of joy during an otherwise painful year

  • For a child who has lost so much, your gift restores a piece of their childhood — and gives them something to celebrate.

Optional Ways to Deepen the Bond

Many families choose to stay connected with their twin beyond the simcha. You can also:

  • Sponsor Big Brother/Big Sister mentorship each year – $2,500

  • Provide tefillin for a Bar Mitzvah boy – $1,000

  • Send your twin to therapeutic camp three times a year, each year – $1,200

  • These additional gifts can be one-time or recurring annually — creating a lasting relationship that grows as your children grow.

Why It Matters

This is not just a donation. It’s a connection. It’s a statement of empathy and unity — from one Jewish family to another, from one child stepping into adulthood to one learning how to stand again.

Other News and Events

On March 6, 2024, 20 women from Great Neck, Long Island sponsored an uplifting and heartwarming bat mitzvah party for 22 terror victims through OneFamily. While the girls are all newly bereaved and grieving, it is important to celebrate their milestone with lots of joy and love. Mission accomplished! “It really brought joy to all the bat mitzvah girls. And our ladies said it was one of the best experiences they ever had. It was worth coming to Israel even if that was the only thing they did on the trip. What an honor it was to partner with you on something so special. We hope we can join you for other nice events in the future.” Tony, from Great Neck
