ways you can help!

In the midst of Operation Am KeLavi, Operation Lion Rising, and amid an increasingly tense security situation, OneFamily is stepping up its national activity to support bereaved families, the wounded, and the injured. Operating under an established emergency protocol in place since October 7, the organization is a vital emotional and logistical lifeline for thousands of Israelis in crisis.

Rising Toll at Home

Since Thursday, Iran has launched more than 370 missiles and hundreds of drones at Israeli cities. In just the last few days, 24 Israelis have been killed across Tel Aviv, Petah Tikva, Haifa, and Bat Yam—including children—and over 500 wounded, many critically. And the number sadly continues to rise. Behind every statistic is a shattered household jolted awake by sirens, hiding in shelters, and left to pick up the pieces of a life interrupted.

Reopened Wounds

Yosef Cohen from Rishon Lezion lost his wife, Ilana z”l, during Operation Guardian of the Walls in May 2021, when a rocket from Gaza struck near their home. Though they were in the shelter, the blast inflicted fatal internal injuries on Ilana. She passed away in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. During the shiva, OneFamily’s Nava Formansky visited the grieving family. From that moment, OneFamily became a permanent part of Yosef’s life. Through continued care at OneFamily’s Ra’anana Center, Yosef found not just healing, but a sense of purpose, belonging, and hope.

This week, Yosef’s home was struck again—this time by missiles from Iran. Once again, sirens, a shelter, and a near-direct hit. And once again, his first call was to Nava. She answered immediately, bringing comfort, calm, and a reminder: OneFamily is always there. It will take weeks and months to rebuild his home, his life, his resilience, and his strength, with their help.

Years of Experience

For more than two decades, OneFamily has been walking alongside bereaved and wounded families across Israel. Today, in the face of intense missile barrages and growing national trauma, their mission continues with greater urgency. Many families are confined to protected rooms—alone, with children, filled with fear and isolation. OneFamily is ensuring that no one remains alone in the silence.
The support begins early. A coordinator visits during the shiva, offering comfort and immediate connection. Soon after, families are introduced to OneFamily’s comprehensive care: emotional counseling, financial assistance, peer groups, youth mentorship, and rehabilitation programs. All services are delivered with compassion, consistency, and deep personal care.

Family coordinators maintain ongoing personal contact, initiate calls, offer logistical help, and serve as a warm, human presence. Teen counselors run daily support check-ins and online programming. Despite the challenges, condolence and hospital visits continue—because being present matters, especially under fire.

The HugMobile: A Human Touch in a Time of Crisis

In another emotional initiative, OneFamily has launched a “HugMobile”—an emergency project run by trained counselors from the organization’s bereaved youth division. These professionals travel across the country to visit bereaved siblings and orphans—nearly 1,000 teens nationwide.
They arrive not just with games or gifts, but with real hugs—from familiar faces who bring warmth, safety, and emotional connection in a time of deep anxiety and isolation. Because even when rockets fall, what matters most is knowing someone sees you, hears you, and comes to you.

Scaling Up the Response

OneFamily’s national helpline is now operational 24/7, manned by professionals ready to provide immediate psychological and emotional support. This is more than a wartime effort—it’s a moral commitment to walk with families through their darkest days, and long after the headlines fade.

The Public’s Role: Stand With Israel’s Families

There are hundreds of people across the country like Yosef with reopened wounds, trauma, and widows, widowers, spouses and children suffering. The necessary security measures and disruptions to routine bring even more insurmountable challenges, that they can only meet with our help – everyone’s help.OneFamily. One Nation. One Heart.
